Review of the Chip, Savings app:

It was better before but hopefully will be good again one day

Positives: This app has helped me to save a lot of money the past year or so which I've been able to use to clear a credit card off! It's easy to use and the app is easy enough to navigate. You get notifications through the app and via email for autosaves on ChipAI which you can adjust or cancel if necessary. Negatives: so many gifs. Every save and email comes with some annoying gif playing on repeat. Doesn't strike me as being a professional company due to this, like they're trying too hard to be your friend... The main negative however is the lack of notice when changing their prices. When I joined, ChipAI was free. Then they changed to charging £1 per month (which I was notified about) but now it's at £1.50 per 28 days with no notice at all so I have moved to their standard Chip account which doesn't autosave or offer any incentives so I have no reason to keep it open now. The interest-earning savings account requires you to get someone else to sign up but everyone that I know either already has Chip or doesn't even use Internet banking so I can't access it despite being with them quite some time now. They seem to be trying to do too much at once with rolling out all of these new products that it just seems patchy and incomplete instead. Reviewed on: 10th March 2021
