Of course all the challenger banks have very similar offerings, but Starling is the oldest one, and that maturity brings some benefits such as being able to take cash out at a Post Office. It also has an in-app marketplace, which is a bit like those bolt-on benefits you can get with some current accounts, except that here they’re all provided by third parties. The only thing Starting doesn’t do that my Barclays account does do is that Barclays offers much more flexibility when choosing the date of a standing order: you can set it to second Tuesday of the month, last working day of the quarter etc but Starling only offers basic day numbers. Even to have a standing order go out on the last day of the month is impossible unless you start it in a month which has 31 days. Reviewed on: 18th March 2021
