Monzo is a great modern bank

5
Monzo is a great bank, fit for the modern age. The bank's interface and real-time notifications make it really easy for me and give me security knowing where my money goes. Rating - I rated Monzo 5 Stars because while I have been using it, there have been no issues whatsoever for me. There are features on the bank I prefer far more than other banks. These features are: - Pay Early (Allows me to collect my payment a few days in advance) - Real-Time Notification (Let's me know how much I've spent, especially in a total of the day, gives me updates when my credit score is ready and informs me when a payment is rejected so I can resolve it in the fastest possible way). - Payments (I can see my Bacs payments before they are due, letting me know where they come from, how much I'll receive and when I can take it out). - Customer Service (Customer Service has always been beneficial. When I recognised an unknown payment, want to dispute an incorrect payment or just giving me help with general issues. The support time for a lot of issues is swift. The longest I have waited for support is 2 days, but this is mainly for low-risk issues). Recommending Bank Rating - I gave it an 8/10 for a reason. Not all banks are perfect, and the point of reviews is, so banks like Monzo learn from them and improve or add suggested ideas from their users. My cousin recently tried twice to open a Monzo bank. When he had a valid ID, he was rejected for having little or no credit history within the United Kingdom. When he had some credit history, he was still rejected. This may have been due to the ID is no longer valid but was valid when we tried the first time. I feel like Monzo only allows users who have any credit history to join their bank, and I won't argue about it because most banks do the same thing. Because they are online and not high-street, this is the only way to confirm a real person identity and past. Another issue is Monzo freezing and closing accounts randomly. No one I know has ever faced this issue, but I always worry this may happen despite my best to follow all the rules. I feel like Monzo needs to consider that when people turn 16, they are just starting to build credit, but only if they want to. I would suggest banks like Monzo allow the person to securely post things like their Passport to confirm they are who they say they are unless they can prove that the ID is real online. I feel Monzo should add the user's sort code and account number on the card so they don't always have to rely on the app. Finally, I feel as if they shouldn't just accept Government-Issued ID. Not everyone is allowed to have a driving license, Passport or both. Not many people want to own a gun, so they don't have a license for a gun license. I feel they should accept the following ID Documents below: - Passport - Full or Provisional Driving License - CitizenCard (PASS) - YoungScot Card (PASS) - Yoti (Digital ID fit for both physical and digital age) That's is my review on Monzo. What do I think of it? I think it's a really good bank, but if they can take into account a couple or all of the things I've said they will be an even better and more trust worthy bank. - Lewis Moore Reviewed on: 13th April 2021
