Xmas and Holiday Cost and Large Families

We have 5 children, and over the years my wife and I have alternated our Credit Union loans/savings so that I pay for the summer holidays and she paid for Xmas. If it wasn't for the Credit Union we'd probably have had to use credit cards or downsized our plans considerably. As it stands this system, where the money is taken off at source, has worked extremely well for us since the mid 90's. 3 of my children are now members (so far) through our recommendation, and are getting in to the habit of saving and planning their finances, even with relatively small amounts of money. One of them is at school, one is a student, and the other is about to be a student. Being young they don't always take our advice, however the long term benefits were so obvious the joined quickly and easily via their iPhone. Very accessible when you attempt to join apparently.
