Review of the Starling Bank, Current account:

Your bank in your pocket

My daughter recommended Starling Bank to me when we were out for dinner. She showed me some of the features of the app, like sending money to others easily and the notification every time you send anything from your account. This is a bank that encourages budgeting by making it easy and almost intuitive. The 'spaces' areas which act as piggy banks within your account, allow monies to be ringfenced for savings or for paying bills, so that it's easy to see what's left as spending money'. The budgeting tools which show you what you've been spending your money on can be an eye opener at the end of the month as every transaction can be categorised. Being able to set your own contactless limit to one below the general amount is very useful, especially if it's otherwise a bit too easy to spend without thinking. I'm finding myself interacting with this bank account more than others because of the insights it provides, which, when you should know exactly what's going on with your money, can only be a good thing.
