My husband & I transferred our joint account to the Nationwide some years ago (with him being the lead customer). Although there is a monthly fee, it still outweighs our previous bank account as we were saving costs on other things, such as car breakdown, etc. We earn 5% on our money each month, which, in reality, reduces the monthly fee. In addition, we have been awarded £100 eaach time we recommended the account to a friend, both our friends and ourselves earning £100. Earlier this year I changed our other joint account (with me as the lead customer) to Nationwide and both of our accounts were credited with £100 for the change. The change over was seamless and we have a very personal service at our local branch, where staff are always happy to help with any concerns or problems we have. All in all a first class account which I would have no hesitation in recommending.
