Review of the Triodos Bank, Current account:

Appreciate their values, ethics and plain language

I am a Triodos Bank user because of their values and because it is the most ethical banking option available in the UK. I find their copy easy to read and respectful, the app easy to use in most cases and I love how they invest in projects that actually help people and the planet. There are only a few things that would improve the experience for me: first, being able to receive international transfers into the account - this is currently too complex, as you don't have an IBAN and need to send the money to Triodos first, which can very easily go wrong if the person at the other end doesn't add your correct account information to their Reference field. Second, offering business banking for small enterprises/self-employed individuals would be fantastic. Third, although I understand the reasoning behind it, I find that charging for a current account (£3 monthly) puts many people off when there are other banks that pay you instead. Best bank to keep my money

It's been easy to join and their app is not bad. But more than anything, even if they charge for their current account and their (sustainable) debit card, I know they invest my money in ethical and environmental projects and they are quite transparent and communicative in their approach. This makes me feel better knowing that at least my money is not sustaining ugly practices. If I have to have the money in a bank, it gives me some peace of mind to know that it is not contributing directly to all the things that are wrong in this world. Reviewed on: 16th March 2022
