Best app for managing money

5
I have had a Monzo account for a while now - I was a reasonably early adopter from when it was a pre-paid Mastercard. Being completely honest I was initially attracted by the fee-free transactions and withdrawals, using it mainly for holidays. I have been a customer of TSB for more than 40 years and I was pleased to hear about the new platform they were going to launch - a fresh start as it were, away from legacy banking systems. But then it all went wrong, and I like many watched as they frantically tried to recover from a failed migration. I stuck with them afterwards, but the final straw came when I used my local branch for the first time in three years to deposit around £90 of loose change which I had counted and bagged. After queuing for 30 minutes to be served I was told the limit was 10 bags a day (I had 13) and regardless of how many accounts I had with them it was a daily limit per customer. I was telling a friend, and he told me that his bank (can't remember which of the big high street banks it was) has a machine similar to the coin star you get in supermarkets which counted his money, deposited it in his account, and didn't charge a fee. I compared than to my experience with TSB and enough was enough. I use less and less cash so making the move to a digital bank made sense. I reviewed the offerings from Starling and Revolut and eventually decided to initiate the current account switching service and move from TSB to Monzo. The app is so easy to use, the pots are great for saving or keeping money aside for a future payment. I have joined the queue for their new business accounts. For me, the one product I would like them to offer is a credit card to give me better protection (Section 75?) for purchases. I haven't had to deposit a cheque in years, but I believe Monzo have an address to post cheques to which for me is better than being charged to pay it in at a post office. I would highly recommend Monzo. Reviewed on: 3rd February 2020

Better than high street banks

5
Really straightforward to set up. I receive regular emails prompting me to log in and check the progress of my loan, the portal is easy to use and track my payments against the outstanding loan value. Much better experience with Zopa than with previous loans with a high street bank. Reviewed on: 3rd February 2020
