Expensive, difficult to access, slow to respond

It now costs £8 a month to run a CAF account. For this, you get almost nothing: no high-street branches, no debit card, just a phone line. As a result of this high cost, our PTA is trying to close ours, and finding that even that is almost impossibly difficult -- though our signatories have officially changed, CAF are insisting that we go back to our original mandate (of about 7 years ago) to get the original signatories to the mandate to sign off. Only they took 2 months even to tell us that our application to close the account (which has to be made in writing of course) had failed. Meanwhile, they continue to claw in the cash.
