Cheep & Easy but Dividend Withholding Tax Can Bite Hard

cheep and easy to access and use although lacking on specific help and services - such as assisting in double tax treaty dividend withholding tax mediation for countries other than the USA. I would very much like to see services to help take advantage of treaties that would limit withholding taxes on dividends at source included in services EVEN if this is a PAID for option!!! I would be happy to pay a levy to trading 212 to handle this process - this would increase earning capacity while increase customer service and reduce investing friction for end users!!! however, unless your investing only in UK or US companies dividend taxes are huge as a consequence if the withholding taxes at source that can amount to 30% - coupled with the 10.5% dividend tax now issues by HMRC thats a considerable amount you will be paying in tax, yes you can blame it back but practically the process is so complex or costly that its often not done!! Over this the platform is idilic! Low costs and easy! just wish there were more professional help on tax mediation at source as other providers offer Reviewed on: 8th April 2026

Near perfect easy to use investment platform

If you want a no fee way of investing into a HUGE array of exchange traded funds (ETF's) InvestEngine should without doubt be on your radar. With easy self managed options or, even managed options for those a little newer to the investing game and would rather opt for a passive management option for their investments (admittedly this will come with small charges over and above the standard expense rate associated with your chosen ETF), InvestEngine offers an engaging and simplified way to grow your money. Although there is always room for improvement, since my opening the account and investing, less than 6 month ago, there has been continuous additions to this fantastic financial technology based platform which makes each interaction more pleasurable. There is even the promise of cash ISA and cash holding accounts on the way! Couldn't recommend this platform enough - if only there were immediate execution option for trades rather than having to wait for someone to execute the trade for you often hours later with no real knowledge of the price at which you are buying (prices can fluctuate quite heavily especially in these volitive times), this is the reason why only a nine star recommendation is given.
