Review of the Metro Bank, Current account:

Best High street bank

I have been a Metro customer for over 5 years now after several years of trying the regular large high street banks. Metro I find out performs all those other banks in every way. Their customer service is second to none not just for myself but for all customers. I often see the staff operating to very high standards to all customers when I visit my local Southend branch. The app is incredibly easy to use, superb functionality and a range of options if you cant make it into a branch. Over the phone their customer support are always friendly and helpful. I recently had an issue with my debit card whilst overseas, although Metro couldn't rectify this particular problem over the phone, their manner of speaking to me and the extended lengths the staff went to for me left me satisfied and increased my loyalty to them. Also recently i had wanted to open an account with Barclays to take advantage of a particular interest rate. I also have a mortgage with Barclays and therefore thought of myself as an existing customer of theirs , when I visited the local Barclays I was extremely underwhelmed by the customer service as I was told there was a near 2 hour wait to sit with someone and was told this rather rudely by a gentleman in an un-tucked shirt with a poor attempt at a tie. I told him I would simply rather go to Metro to which I received little more than a grunt. Contrast this to Metro who's staff are always smartly dressed and greet all customers with a smile and a genuine interest in your business. Its a no brainer for my, BArclays can have their superior interest rates whoever Metro gets my business. Reviewed on: 3rd April 2023
