Barclays is not a bank......its an Ealing comedy!

After 45 years as a customer I have finally given up with Barclays and transferred my business to another bank. First they closed my local branch, shortly after they removed the cashpoint that went with it. Then they took away my overdraft facility (not that I have ever used it but it would have been nice to tell me why). Then they closed two other branches that were both 8 miles away, so the nearest branch is now a 30 minute drive from my house. Trying to speak to anyone on the phone was a total waste of time, and after they cancelled my debit card for the 3rd consecutive time in a year because of 'possible fraudulent activity' I'd had enough. When I told them I was switching to another bank I didn't even get a 'sorry to see you go and thank you for your custom' after 45 years loyalty. Barclays is not a bank anymore, it's just another bloated corporate entity with total disregard for the customers whose hard-earned cash it relies on to exist. Its savings interest rates are a complete joke and its single minded focus on closing almost every physical branch it operates in favour of 'online apps' is very short-sighted. The internet is wonderful, until there is no internet.... Anyone considering opening an account with them should seriously think again, and if you are someone who still persists in keeping an account with them in the vain hope that things will get better, I would suggest you start looking elsewhere before they screw you over too.
