Long term Customer

I have had several savings accounts with Saffron Walden building society for a long time. The rates are good and staff are friendly and helpful. They have made mistakes with my accounts but it is possible to talk to a real person in branch or on the phone and they have sorted out the mistakes quickly. Reviewed on: 27th January 2026

A problem solved with good grace

I have several one year savings accounts with SBS and I went into the Haverhill branch about one account as the renewal form wasnt very clear for what I wanted to do. The gentleman there filled in the form but then due to a glitch in the computer system update my instructions were not carried out. I contacted SBS and a lady working from home investigated what had happened. She then asked me to come into the branch to sort it out and , without me asking, gave me a goodwill payment as compensation for the inconvenience. It was a bit worrying but all sorted out satisfactorily in the end. Reviewed on: 15th January 2024
