Review of the Santander, 123 Current Account (discontinued):

Still the best all-rounder

5
I have operated a Santander 123 Current Account for a number of years and although the interest rate was recently cut to 1.5% per month, I still believe that this is the best current account on the market. Cashback of up to 3% is paid on various household bills so long as they are paid by direct debit to the account and a charge of £5 per month is made for the running of the account. This charge will in most cases be covered by the cashback and with a balance of £20,000 the interest will amount to £300 per annum. The only requirement is that a minimum of £500 per month must be paid in from any source other than another Santander account and as it is possible for a couple to hold three of these accounts (1 Joint and 1 single account in each name) then a significant amount of income (in present day interest terms) can be generated. Online access is easy and secure and almost totally obviates the need to visit a high street branch other than for paying inphysical cash or cheques. I wholeheartedly recommend the Santander 123 Current Account Reviewed on: 9th February 2017

Better than a savings account

5
In the light of current economic circumstances, Santander Bank has recently been forced to reduce the amount of interest paid on its 1-2-3 Current Accounts. However, having been a customer of Santander for many years, and having used their 1-2-3 Current Accounts for around 3 years, I still believe that the product is the best on the market for both savers and spenders. Obviously the account will not suit everybody and only personal spending and savings habits will determine if it is to one's benefit to hold this account but if the account is maintained in credit and sufficient "cash-back eligible" direct debits are charged to it then the accumulation of interest plus cash-back credits will be more than enough to offset the modest £5 per month charge. Go for it....the rate of 1.5% interest on credit balances is still better than most other dedicated savings accounts and the 1-2-3 account is far more flexible than its interest-paying rivals. Travel Insurance for Medical

I have never before arranged a travel insurance policy so efficiently and in my case I am insuring for pre-existing conditions. I organised it online but subsequently need help which I was willingly given by Melissa who could not have been more helpful and who clearly knew her way around the system and also had an in-depth knowledge of heart problems. Please do not allow her to leave as I would certainly wish to speak to her again if I have a problem when I renew next year! Reviewed on: 21st September 2016
