I've been with First Direct for many many years - shortly after they first started as an innovative telephone banking service. They have been solid and offer good service, but I feel that they are getting tired. The new wave of challenger banks do things slicker and offer better deals too. Reviewed on: 24th May 2024

Very difficult to contact and slow to respond to emails. Although I got a competitive price for my car insurance I was disappointed when I had to chase them for an included offer and found them very difficult to contact. There is literally no way of contacting them by telephone, and they are slow to respond to emails. I worry what the experience would be like if I have to make a claim, and hence will probably not renew with this company. Reviewed on: 11th March 2024

Pleasant surprise for existing customer

Customer service were good at dealing with my re-mortgage queries, and it was a pleasant surprise to find that re-mortgage rates for existing customers were better than those for new clients. Reviewed on: 11th March 2024

Great fee-free banking with an easy to use app. This is how business banking should be done. When I have had questions then Starling's customer service has been good at solving the issues, but sometimes it would be good to be able to speak to someone directly rather than just on an online chat.
