Direct debit cancelled without informing me

I missed a direct debit payment due to a change in my salary payment date. I rectified as soon as I realised and during the phone conversation with with customer service I was told I didn't need to do anything else and the following months DD would go ahead as before. The next month I received a letter saying that I had failed to make my payment, when I called they told me that my bank must have cancelled, so began and back and forth situation trying to figure out what had happe...
