Can be very problematic to start off..

A very strange setup, where you have to setup a linked bank account. This appears to be the only account you can pay money into the savings accounts from. Any attempt to pay in from any other accounts you have result in the payment being rejected and returned to your bank, I'm yet to find anywhere on the website that stipulates this as a condition. The savings account uses very little of the information provided on application if you are an existing customer. It also doesn't take the initial deposit you think it would, after filling the application. If you currently have an account with them, then it is useful to check the data they hold against your account. If you have had this many years - like myself - then they may have little or no data held on file. In my case, they had an email address I've never registered and no phone number - so I couldn't be contacted with the key details I needed (account number, sort code, user id number - this wasn't resolved until I called into the branch in person when I provided the missing information. Seems as though the on-line portal to manage your accounts has been badly planned and thought out - with an assumption that your existing data is good enough to use - when it quite clearly isn't. Using the data in the application to validate or update your exisiting account profile would be very useful. Reviewed on: 25th April 2024
