Be brave and ring Step Change

I was at my wits end with worry about my credit card debt, especially as my income is just State Pension and Pension Credit. After reading up about available help, I kept putting off phoning Step Change for months because I was so ashamed of my situation. When I finally plucked up the courage it was nothing like I had imagined. The gentleman I spoke to was completely non-judgemental and in a calm, pleasant way helped me to work out a budget I could manage whilst gradually paying off my credit card. It was such a relief that the bank then stopped my monthly interest payment as well. Step Change were the best thing to happen to me and I would recommend them to anybody who needs help with their finances at this difficult time. Reviewed on: 23rd May 2025

I hesitated too long because I was so embarrassed to...

I hesitated too long because I was so embarrassed to be in debt. When I finally plucked up the courage, Step Change were so kind and non-judgemental and we sorted out a manageable plan for me to become debt-free, A huge weight fell off my shoulders. Reviewed on: 1st May 2024
