I got into a financial mess after I was persuaded to retire and end my self employment and quickly ran up a debt of over £ 10,000. Then heard about STEPCHANGE and told them my circumstances. They then sorted a debt management plan [affordable to me] to pay my creditors. It was a 5 year plan and I finished paying it off in October 2023. Honestly if you are in a mess with money then contact them. The whole service is entirely free and no interest is paid on whhat you owe.
