Take those first steps, they're there to help

Dealing with debt and admitting to big companies that you're struggling is terrifying. However, from the second I started dealing with StepChange it felt like it was the easiest process in the end like ripping off a plaster. Once you take the first steps of getting yourself sorted with them, you've got full support from actual human beings who care about helping you out. I frequently asked questions regarding my debts that I thought would be so stupid because it's stuff I thought I should know the answer to, but every question was answered respectfully and patiently, clarifying as much as I needed them to. I suffer from anxiety so talking to someone on the phone was always a struggle but they're readily available online too via chat which was my regular way of getting in touch as I process written word better than verbal instructions. I'm now 3-4 months into my debt management plan. I have managed with their support to clear one big debt that they were unable to take charge of (they weren't able to manage my HP on my car due to its status,but they gave me advice on how to talk to my finance company and what questions to ask with regards to clearing that myself). Because of my regular payments to them each month,it's made everything a lot easier with making outstanding payments to other debtors and with handling my own finances a bit better. It's still a struggle each month to make ends meet, but StepChange allow the freedom to breathe easier and they take away the stress of dealing with everything alone by handling your main debtors so you can deal with the smaller stresses in life.
