Covid ruined us and my maternity leave

During covid I was on maternity leave and my self employed partner had no income. Secretly surviving in credit got us through but this came at a price, once the 0% inteest periods ended i was struggling to make minimum payments and my mental health took a massive hit of trying to deal with this myself. I defaluted. My partner found out about the debt and we nearly separated. Without the non judgemental help from stepchange I wouldnt be where I am today. I got into diffi ulty during my first DMP, I called the helpline and again someone helped me with my issues and got me back on track. Yes I have a long way to go till I'm debt free, but its a weight completely off my mind. Im finally sleeping at night not worrying about what emails, calls, post, texts and legal action threats I'm going to receive. Thank you for helping me to live again. Reviewed on: 3rd May 2024
