I found myself going down a rabbit hole of paying off credit card, overdraft, loans and catalogue debts and seemingly getting nowhere of paying them off. My dad died recently and this, on reflection made my situation more hard to manage and I was burying my head in the sand.i had not had any arrears with my commitments but at the same time had hit a brick wall with the merry go round of paying these off month by month.i had contacted one of my creditors to explain my difficulties and they straight away told next contact Stepchange. Once I had made contact, gone through what I owed and agreeing on an amount each month to meet my payment to reduce what I owed I immediately felt the weight of everything leave my shoulders. That was around two years ago and I have gradually watched as my debt has gotten smaller and smaller ! I am so pleased with myself and am very thankful to Stepchange for their gracious help, understanding and non judgmental support in this matter. If you are experiencing any financial problems and find you are struggling like me then do not hesitate to make that first step !
