A Brilliant Travel Companion: Revolut’s Card

As a traveller, I’ve long dreaded the hidden fees and poor exchange rates that come with using a traditional bank card overseas. That is, until I started using Revolut. In short, it has completely transformed my experience of spending in different currencies. The standout feature, without a doubt, is the ability to use the Revolut card virtually anywhere in the world while benefitting from outstanding exchange rates. Whether I’m sipping coffee in Rome, shopping in Tokyo, or paying for a taxi in New York, I simply pay with the card as normal. The transaction goes through at the real, interbank exchange rate, which is far superior to anything the high street banks or airport bureaux de change offer. The transparency is fantastic—you can see the rate applied immediately in the app, with no nasty surprises. It’s not just about the rates, but the sheer convenience. No more need to carry wads of local currency or waste time searching for a 'good' bureau de change. Knowing I have the Revolut card in my wallet gives me genuine peace of mind. I’ve saved a significant amount on every trip, money that I’d much rather spend on experiences than on bank fees. Five stars, without hesitation. Reviewed on: 12th January 2026
