I am with them for 3 years and when made my first claim of a water leak, they gave me an appointment after 7 days ( yes, this is emergency cover). No one came after 7 days and upon calling, they rescheduled after the next 7 days. My kitchen ceiling could not take this leak for 2 weeks so I got it sorted privately as I was not confident they will come after 15 days either.
Cancelled the service and demand refund !!

I love how Barclays is the only bank I know that gives you 15 hrs to sort out a direct debit with insufficient funds in account. Sometimes you just forget and then get a reminder on the day. And then you'll have till 3pm to sort it out before they reject the payment.

I have been banking with Barclays for 30 years and am a customer of Barclays Wealth and a business customer. The telephone banking system with Barclays corporate business is so appealing it defies intelectual belief, these are the people that 30 years ago attempted to influence how I run my businesses.

VERY VERY SAD
God help the small business/entrepreneur attempting to establish yourself, unless you have, say 6 hours out of a 10 hour day, you have little or no chance of troubleshooting any problems.

All I wanted to do was change business addresses as I currently do not have a corporate manager, 'of course' they will blame Covid!!!!! what will it be next year?

Help, What do I do next?

As a first time buyer, we expected to pay a higher interest rate so were pleasantly surprised with our offer from Barclays. The mortgage process was completely straight forward and all completed quickly. I had to call to change our bank details and the customer service agent was extremely helpful and polite. Very happy overall.

While visiting my daughter I got caught out by Mexico being put on the UK's travel red list, and as BA wanted to charge me £7K for changing my flight I had to find another way back. I was doubtful that Barclays would reimburse me as the foreign office advice is rather ambiguous (though visiting a child was specified as OK at one point) but I put my case to Barclays calmly and truthfully (explaining that they could subtract my still usable inbound flight) and they reimbursed me (minus the excess of course).

I was with Barclays for a good number of years with out any issues. Unfortunately I was targeted by fraudsters and had money stolen. Barclays basically turned around and said tough and would not refund the money. After a lot of going back and forth and getting the obismon involved. they finally decided to refund the money. Needless to say the way I was treated like I was the criminal and my mental health suffered. I was even hospitalised due to the streets of it. I have now closed the account and will have nothing to do with Barclays.

I had Travel Pack added to my current account about 3 years ago. I pay by monthly direct debit. However when I wanted to make a claim for a coronavirus related cancellation, I realised that I had no policy documents. Apparently, Barclays don’t do policy numbers, etc. I was directed to Aviva as their insurance provider. Aviva prerecorded messages encourage you to use their website which i tried unsuccessful. So back in the telephone queue to speak to person. 15 minutes later I am connected and the Aviva man tells me that know nothing about me (tried the usual postcode, date of birth, etc. I protested that Barclays account app shows deduction for Travel Pack, isn’t that enough? However the Aviva people are not allowed any access to account related info. One proposed solution was for me to call Barclays and get them to confirm with Aviva that I have Travel Pack, and for me to stay online while this goes on. Of course we did not succeed as I am already 51 minutes online by the time I get thru to Barclays listening to various prerecorded messages about how much easier it is to use website. At this point the line went dead and I gave up for another day.

I submitted to get a debit card from barclays bank. I received my card a few days later but it never worked in any tore purchases. After multiple attempts to contact them, I finally are reached a baraclays bank member who offered to send me a new card. That card has not worked either and I have attempted to call barclays bank multiple times but each time they hang up on me as soon as I have completed all security checks. The customer service is terrible.

On my parents passing I quickly discovered that Barclays has an unacceptable pathetic security process that allowed a fraudster to very easily close my parents accounts upon their death and steal their money. On top of this they are now forcing us to pay thousands in legal fees to get grant of probate to get the money back even though it isn’t a huge amount. This same fraudster did a similar thing with a Halifax account but Halifax have been great, have given the money back and they are now chasing and prosecuting the fraudster. Barclays should be ashamed. You have a responsibility to your customers estate’s and you are a massive fail.

Worst bank when it comes to customer service and scam protection. I have waited almost 6 months to pick up my scam claim, for which I had to go to a branch because otherwise it’s impossible to reach them. And after they picked up my claim, of course they said that they are unable to refund my money. The scam protection/ prevention is one of the poorest, nothing compared to Lloyds Bank, which I find them more interested in preventing these things and protecting the customers. I just lost almost £900 and after such a poor service, I closed all my accounts with Barclays.

They will accept you on principle, you’ll pay there fees and they will filter you. If they see others to lend to for what ever reason the decision in principle will be taken apart

Meanwhile 2 months have gone by

They declined a dd of £8. Then charge me £20 for having to decline an £8 dd, due to insufficient ballance. They tell me nothing while fining me for going into "unarranged od", then 3 months later they threatened me with debt collectors for a £200 "debt".

Barclays is also the innovator of the "PPI" scam.

They are the biggest b word out there, stay far away.

I have been a customer of Barclays for over 40 years and my mum worked in branch for 15 years, I set up company accounts with them 3 years ago and without doubt they are the most shockingly bad customer service set up i have ever encountered. and im in the service industry mysellf!
Every single interation with them will take at least 40 mins. And i mean the basics!
Calls are not logged and nor are complaints. No business manager. A 'team' you cannot contact sirectly and on hold an average of 40 mins. Their onlie service is shocking. 'live chats' that last 3 days (no im not kidding) with the overseas person you are connecting with not even aware of Barclays policy.

So yes Barclays have COST me hundreds if not thousands of £ of wasted time and resources. Choose elsehwre
