Barclays blocked a transfer from my own Lloyds account and held my money for days (and I'm worried it could turn into weeks or months),... Barclays blocked a transfer from my own Lloyds account and held my money for days (and I'm worried it could turn into weeks or months), causing me financial loss and serious stress. Other banks like Lloyds and RBS resolved similar issues within hours, but Barclays' support was slow and unhelpful. They demanded proof of income and told me I'd have to wait at least two business days after submitting documents. The transfer came from a legitimate business account (NatWest), so I don't understand why Barclays doesn't trust other major banks. It's not like I deposited cash -everything was from verified bank accounts. I'm a Premier customer, so I could contact support in- stantly, but it was useless if the staff couldn't actually help. The "Premier" benefits are pointless compared to other banks. For example, when Lloyds froze my money, I called them and they fixed everything in 5 minutes- and their Premier account offers much better benefits. The process at Barclays is slow, confusing, and causes unnecessary hardship. At least in my case, I'll have to pay interest on overdrafts because my money is blocked (which is bad enough, it should be compensated if you ask me), but some people might not even have that option-they could lose their credit score or even have to ask friends for money just to buy food, all because their salary is stuck at Barclays. My advice: Avoid Barclays. Open an account with any other bank-literally anyone else. You'll get better service and less stress. With Barclays, you'll only get a very bad mobile banking app (honestly, it's only slightly better than HSBC's, but still much worse than NatWest, Lloyds, or even Nationwide). Bad app, bad support, they lock your money for days when nothing is suspicious if you use common sense like other banks system do. Nothing special with them, only stress. You can see there are plenty of people online having the same problem as me with this bank. Read more Read less

If you are like me and you switched to them for the switch bonus and saw that you are approved for premier and you are like (nice free pretty useless but free perks if I transfer 3300 pounds every month as this is their requirement if you don't have your salary with them) don't transfer any money and close the account or you will get the same treatment Read more Read less

They asked me to fax a bunch of ID paperwork. I called back later—some of it passed, but I had to refax because other parts didn’t.     Poor service towards existing customers. I accepted an Overdraft facility some years ago and never really use it. I was nice that it was there... Poor service towards existing customers. I accepted an Overdraft facility some years ago and never really use it. I was nice that it was there as a cushion. Suddenly I am told it will be totally removed unless I go through an appeals process. The process takes quite some time so I am not prepared to spend an unspecified time on the telephone. I didn’t have all this hassle when I accepted it. I wrote to complain but to no avail. “Appeals process only”. These people know what is coming into and leaving the account so why would I want to start begging? £7000 overdraft to ZERO in the drop of a hat. I’ll go elsewhere. Read more Read less

Still No Access to My Own Money – Barclays Actively Blocking Me This is a follow-up to my previous review, and shockingly, the situation has only gotten worse. I still have no access to my own money. Despite passing every security check, raising a formal complaint, and even visiting a branch in person, Barclays continues to block me from accessing my account. The call centre agents are unable (or unwilling) to help, the branch staff are powerless, and no one takes ownership. It feels like Barclays is now actively preventing me from accessing my own funds — with zero explanation and zero accountability. I’ve detailed this issue in a formal complaint, citing legal and regulatory obligations Barclays is clearly breaching — including FCA rules and the Payment Services Regulations — yet there's been no resolution and no urgency. Just silence. This is not just poor service — it’s deeply concerning behaviour from a bank entrusted with people’s money. If you're considering banking with Barclays, I strongly urge you to think twice. They’re shutting branches, outsourcing support, and leaving long-term customers completely stranded. Absolutely disgraceful. Barclays are a disgrace Barclays are a disgrace. Logged in to transfer my own money, got through security, and they still locked my account. Rang customer service and, as usual, ended up with an overseas call centre that couldn’t fix anything. Instead of helping, the agent made it worse and completely locked me out of both online banking and my account. Now I’ve been told I have to drag myself into a branch — except Barclays have shut every local branch near me, and the city centre one shuts at 2pm. How are customers supposed to function when you can’t fix issues on the phone and can’t even get to a branch? It’s chaos. Barclays don’t care about customers anymore, only shareholders. Outsourcing to useless call centres, closing branches, and leaving people stranded. Shocking service, shocking attitude, and no respect for the people who trust them with their money.     I had a bussiness account with Barclays for about 4 years. At some point they kept asking me silly questions (like why i take cash... I had a bussiness account with Barclays for about 4 years.     STILL WAITING AFTER MONTHS OF POLITE PROMISES

    I have been a customer with Barclays Travel Insurance for over 15 years and have never made a claim. Barclays have even gone up in... I have been a customer with Barclays Travel Insurance for over 15 years and have never made a claim. Barclays have even gone up in price and yet we kept up our monthly payments. My mother was suddenly taken into hospital for emergency surgery and so we had to cancel our Travel Plans. In all our claim only amounted to around £300. Despite this small amount Barclays are giving us the run around for months already. They claim they will deal with papers within 5 days. I am still waiting after a month of sending an additional document. They make you wait for ages on the phone and then politely inform you why they cannot assist and then make more promises which they do not keep. Read more Read less
