I’m currently disputing a £50 charge from CoverBox
I had an appointment with them on the 14th of July at anytime in the morning. The appointment was for a engineer to fit a black box device to my car. I completely intended on keeping this appointment and stayed in till 1pm.
However, I missed a phone call around 9am but I didn’t see this missed until later.
CoverBox have a second number for me which is my partners number for if I can’t get to the phone as I have a toddler and a two month old I’m not always available.
I’m basically being charged £50 for missing that phone call. I was informed on the phone and I agreed that I would be charged if this appointment was missed which is why I didn’t want to miss it.
I disputed the charge because I was told that the engineer had called my phone once, left me a voicemail, rang my bell and waited outside for around 20 minutes.
I have never had a voicemail option set up on my phone (and I believe that I can get that verified by my phone provider).
He did not call my bell because I was in and either me or my partner would have heard it. And I just feel like if the engineer had been outside for 20 minutes, why didn’t he call me again? I do believe he was there but him calling my bell and leaving me a voicemail is a out right LIE. Also, why take a second phone number from me if it doesn’t get used?
A lot doesn’t add up here. How do I know that he didn’t just ring and put the phone down immediately thus not giving me enough time to get to my phone?
I feel I’ve been treated unfairly by them! They’ve taken the engineers side (who just couldnt be bothered in my opinion) over a loyal customer. From my part, I kept to our agreement and I waited in for him! I’m only guilty of not calling the unknown number back which I’m sorry, is not my job to do.
I’m unemployed on benefits with two babies and £50 is a lot of money for us and the response I got was “well, it’s still chargable”

Damaged the interior after installing black box and won't own up
The worst insurance company ever. They sent and installer who ripped off panels and damaged the interior when attempting to install the black box. Then when we complained with pictures as evidence, they still claimed everything was done perfectly.... Read more
The worst insurance company ever. They sent and installer who ripped off panels and damaged the interior when attempting to install the black box. Then when we complained with pictures as evidence, they still claimed everything was done perfectly. Later on they themselves emailed us for another appointment to re install the black box because it was not installed properly and was not working. The new installer told us the damages are from previous installation and that he is taking pictures and will send them to the company. We complained again but once again cover box decided, with out even sending any one to inspect the damage, that first installation was spotless and suggested that, if we want to, we may go to the Financial Services Ombudsman. Which is what we are doing now. A rip off company who won't own up to their mistakes even when pointed out by some one send in by themselves/ their installation provider.Reviewed on 13th October 2017Rippedoff Customer

All around, the Coverbox team were very helpful in helping to start my policy. I was impressed that their technicians were able to come and fix the 'Black box' recorder promptly when it had a malfunction. Coverbox is A Real Nightmare, the worst insurance company ever, even worse than Hasting Direct!

I honestly don't know how this company justifies its pretence to be a good insurance company; all they are concerned with is finding excuses and taking the money. I have paid the annually price of £670 for the policy. Although they were able to check my annual driving mileage online, they sent an expert out to install a Mileage-Tracking-Device because they didn't believe that I only drive about 3000 Mile in year (I drove only 2500 Mile in 2015!). Then, their [Expert] went back to their company and stated that “the wheels are not genuine.” The expert did not recognise the genuine Alloy-Wheels that were originally fitted from the VW-Bora manufacturer. Then, I was changing address during that time and have told them appropriately about the change, in the meantime they send a letter to the old address and made me responsible for their mistake. Furthermore, they sent me a letter that being received on Friday telling me that they need my written-response on Monday (over weekend!), they built their own causation with their fraudulent-logic and refused to insure my car (without any justified reason). Then, the biggest part: they charged me for all costs including the mileage-tracking-device and their expert-trip. After calling them a few times and discussing for hours, they paid about £200 refund.
Please save yourself the hassle and never use Coverbox. You will tragically regret it if you do!
It might be also mention-worthy to conclude, I have insured my car again with a very diligent company at a better deal and a cheaper price.
However, go to them if you wanted the worst experience for the Guinness World Records.
