Pretty Decent for a debt collectors

Obviously, I would not go around recommending a debt collectors but if a friend told me that they had been contacted by NCO, I would say that they are alright. I have seen a lot of really bad reviews of them and people have different experiences but they were pretty decent to me. I received a letter in the post stating that if I didn't pay anything within a couple of months, it was going to be recorded as a default. I was unable to pay them anything for a good few months as at the time, I was being made redundant. I responded to every email, letter, text, phone call, etc and they put my account on hold (did not contact me) for a period of time when I asked them too. Once I had received my redundancy and gained employment elsewhere, I rang them up and paid them off in full with any extra charges, interest, etc removed. They advised me that because I had not paid them by the date in the first letter they sent me, it had been recorded as a default on my credit file. I argued that I had advised them the whole time of my circumstances the whole time and that I would be able to pay them off and that I would like the default removed. They escalated this to a manager who approved it. I'm really happy and I think that is fair. Whenever, I spoke to them, they were friendly and helpful even when I was unable to pay. I have spoken with other debt collectors in the past and some of them can be really awful, rude and on- supportive. NCO were pretty fair. I spoke to a good few members of staff and none of them were disrespectful. Reviewed on: 1st April 2021
