Review of the Barclays, Current account:

Good overall, could do better

I've been banking with Barclays since 2007 and i have to say that generally speaking, they have given me what i've needed in terms of banking facilities over the last 11 years. i've had business bank accounts also when i've been self employed. However, from a customer service perspective i feel they could do better. When i scheduled an appointment with my account manager for an account review because i was struggling, still am, her advice was to 'find a rich boyfriend'. Not at all helpful and quite patronising. I work extremely hard and have raised my family by myself since my husband died. That for me was utterly ridiculous to hear that kind of talk from a professional. I won't be giving up my lunch breaks again in a hurry for that kind of advice. As it currently stands, i am trying to avoid an IVA or possible bankruptcy so telling me to 'find a rich boyfriend' just told me that this woman really didn't care. You would have thought she would be going out of her way to assist me to avoid such action. I stay with Barclays for convenience, not for the outstanding customer service.
