Review of the Saffron Building Society, Mortgages:

Not great as First Time Buyers!

In all honesty, we had an awful experience with Saffron Building Society as first time buyers. We found that they asked for the strangest documentation in order to finalise our mortgage - including my partners CV???? Once we had satisfied their requests, they then came back with further ridiculous queries, some of which was not relevant to our purchase whatsoever. I have worked in estate agency for 10 years and have never come across a lender with such awkward requests, which ultimately delayed our completion. Purchasing a property for the first time should be an exciting experience but all we endured was stress. I will however say that the customer service representative I spoke to on the online chat service (after we had completed) was helpful and polite - but unfortunately this isn’t enough to have altered our decision not to use them again in the future.
