Review of the NatWest, Rooster card:

10/10 would HIGHLY recommend Rooster Money!!

What an amazing app at half the cost of a go Henry account this was a no brainier for me. Being a NatWest customer meant that u didn’t have to pay for the first 2 child accounts on a monthly subscription. Go Henry charges a monthly subscription of £3.99 per child. Whilst rooster money offers 2 children free monthly subscriptions (if you’re already a NatWest account holder) then it’s only £1.99 a month per child account for any additional child accounts using a card. The cards are free even to replace them is free with the standard NatWest design. There is an option to purchase different designs on the card but this is an optional feature which again means saving money for us parents and no hidden costs. The cards came fast in the post. The apps were easy to use and set up with lots of additional features such as choirs lists with checklist to show when completed. You can use their accounts to add saving pots on to show them not only that money has to be earned and saved to get the things they want, but also a simplistic child friendly way to learn how to manage money and gives them an experience similar to online banking if you wish for them to have the account on an iPad or phone for example they can see their balance transfer between their card and savings pot and it gives them a little onsite into online banking. with the layout they feel so grown up and independent my children absolutely love their cards! They have even used their own cards to purchase PlayStation games and items from Amazon. The app allows parents to turn on or off the feature to use the card online, you can keep track of your child’s spending and see where purchases were made. As a parent of 4 this app is not only incredibly good value for money! But I’m currently using it as a star reward for my toddler who has an account but no card money so he earns stars, this app has been cleverly thought out to fit the different needs of every individual family. It feels very personal your children can choose a profile picture (private to your family) which again adds that touch of personalisation and independence. I have already recommended to everyone I know but if your reading this and looking into what account to use for your child’s first card. Rooster money is the best by far! my ONLY negative would be the contactless feature. This can be enabled when your child turns 13 years of age however I think if this was turned on or off for any age by parents the same as the online payment feature that this would make using the cards out and about a lot easier for a busy mum as each child is having to remember and put in their pin at the checkouts a contactless option would be brilliant in these times haha. But overall even without this feature this has to be the best app I have ever got for my children! 10/10 Reviewed on: 12th February 2025
