As from 1st April -appropriately April Fools Day- payment into any savings account has to be made in cash, online or by setting up a standing order. In my opinion this is unfair to customers who do not bank online and don’t want to make a trip to the bank followed by one to the Monmouthshire to deposit money. It’s very ageist although my daughter in her early 50’s is of the same opinion. The point of a passbook is to use it and be able see your deposit, balance and withdrawals. This is no reflection on counter staff in Newport might I add Reviewed on: 31st March 2025
Reply from Monmouthshire Building Society Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are so sorry that the removal of our debit card machines will cause you inconvenience. Following a review of our services, the debit card facility was not providing overall benefit to all members, and this was a considerable cost to the Society. Your review has been shared with the Newport branch manager who will be in contact with you to discuss your complaint further. Response date: 3rd April 2025
