A very comprehensive tool...

I have used the Better off Calculator for 6 years, since it was brought in at Rotherham Council, to assist my customers to see how they will benefit from moving into employment. It has been very useful in identifying benefits the customers may not have been claiming but were possibly entitled to. I like it because you can use it simply to do this, but also because you can work through a detailed budgeting exercise with a customer which can help to identify areas where the customer could make savings. The most comprehensive calculator available...

I have used Policy in Practice for a number of years, to support my customers to budget better, to claim benefits they may be entitled to but unaware of, and to see the benefits of moving into employment. I like the support that we get from the organisation, who are very quick to correct any glitches in the calculator that may arise, or suggest work-arounds in the meantime. Reviewed on: 14th May 2025
