StepChange gave me my life back

A few years ago, I rang StepChange in tears after being referred by a kind lady at the bank. I had reached a breaking point—no longer able to “borrow from Peter to pay Paul” because Peter wanted his money back. I was completely overwhelmed, ashamed of my debt, and couldn’t see a way out. From the moment I called, I was met with compassion. The advisor I spoke to (whose name I sadly didn’t catch) was incredibly patient and kind as we worked through all the necessary information together. I was nervous and uncertain at first, so I called StepChange multiple times—and each time, I was met with the same kindness and reassurance. Now, a few years on, I’m over £13,000 lighter in debt and past the halfway mark. I no longer dread the post or flinch when the phone rings. Despite living on a budget, I feel freer and more in control than I have in years. I genuinely don’t know what I would have done without StepChange. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
