I was ashamed of my spiralling debt after an abusive marriage I got into huge amount of debt. I didn't realise how poor my mental health was and I was spending irresponsibly. I was drowning each month trying to pay my debts but the interest was adding up and I couldn't cope and that's when I plucked up the courage to contact stepchange.
