Got my life back

Just over 5 years ago my relationship situation changed together with my job and started to struggle financially. I was simply paying out too much to cover what was coming in despite making as many money savings as I could. I started to then only pay the minimum on my credit cards and moving money around and missing payments then soon got overwhelmed. Thinking I couldn’t do anything I then adopted a head in the sand moment and really didn’t know what to do. Looking into debt online I came across this wonderful charity. They supported me to create a debt management plan and I was able to pay my debts gradually and realistically and also managed to have some money for social activities again. StepChange gave me my life back and the financial stress came down considerably without worrying about someone knocking on my door and asking me to pay a bill I couldn’t. After 5 years and communicating any changes I’m really happy to announce that I’m now debt free. It’s been a long journey and my only regret is not finding this before I got into a real crisis.
