Autism and discalculia together with lockdown and losing employment left me unable to keep control of my finances. Stepchange staff were incredibly helpful in patiently dealing with me until there was a plan in place. They took the worry and fear out of the monthly budget and even helped me with an appointee for when I get overwhelmed and can’t speak. Reviewed on: 12th May 2026

From a feeling of deep despair to satisfaction

COVID sunk our finances into a deep hole of despair- the kind and helpful personal assistance from Stepchange assistants helped us work out a budget and presented us with a plan of action. Not only did this help us with peace of mind but for the first time in a long time we felt back in control. Over time there were considerate and helpful articles sent via email to help us with adjustments to our thinking and thus our spending habits. What seemed like an insurmountable task has now became a source of satisfaction as we watch the numbers slowly ebbing away. Reviewed on: 25th May 2025
