Vanquis supported me

I have always paid off my credit cards at the end of every month on receipt of the statement. Last year I sent money to an organisation which I was scammed into believing was a charity working for Ukraine. I was expecting to be repaid but I lost all the money I sent. As a result I had to pay off debts and had a poor credit rating for some months. Vanquis offered me a credit card at a time when I needed one, albeit only for small amounts of money. I was very grateful to Vanquis for offering to support me and I felt that they were giving me a helping hand in my determination to pay off all I owed. I have now paid off all my debts (in 12 months) and still feel very grateful to Vanquis. Reviewed on: 19th May 2026

StepChange help just when you need it

Following a scam whereby I thought I was lending a large sum of money to charity I found myself owing money to banks and credit card companies. At age 81 I had never been in debt before and found the situation very stressful. Stepchange has been very professional in helping me determine the monthly repayment amount and in liaising with my creditors. StC have been very kind and have never made me feel bad about my debt. I do not know how I could have managed without them. I am now debt free! Reviewed on: 6th May 2026
