When I realised, that I couldn’t manage when my husband left, was a complete wake up call. I didn’t know where to begin. A friend recommended a DMP, I had know idea what one was. I was terrified of telling anyone my problems, as I was totally ashamed. I took the first step and contacted Stepchange, the person I spoke with was non judgemental, and helped me all the way. He came up with a plan I could afford, and I decided on areas that I could cut back on. I have nothing but praise for the staff, not once have they rushed me, or judged me. Don’t be afraid to contact them for help. Reviewed on: 6th May 2026
