Claim paid in the end after a huge effort on my part

I recently had to cancel a holiday just 2 days before we were due to leave. Within a week I initiated a claim for those parts of the trip I could not cancel or get refunded, which was about £2.6k. I was constantly asked by the assessors to provide new documentation, and my GP had to complete a detailed medical declaration. In the end, after almost 3 months, my claim was met to the maximum available, which was £2k. So, in that sense the claim was successful. However, when they paid I was told I should declare ridiculous things that my GP mentioned, like the fact that I'd been to see her for a chest infection a year earlier. Or that I needed to declare blepharitis (sore eyes)! Or surgery to fix an inguinal hernia (a one off) more than a year earlier! So, my claim was paid, but it took a huge effort on my behalf.
