My initial application for a salary sacrifice loan

My initial application for a salary sacrifice loan online was completed easily without any issues. I received an "approval email" on completion (but please be aware that applying on a "Sunday" means you will not receive an official offer until the next working day). On Monday the initial offer came in, but sadly for me was much less than I had hoped for. I was "brave and curious" and so emailed the Lending Team straight back to find out their reasons behind this decision. "It's all about the affordability" I was advised, and they kindly asked to resend my financial affordability details via email with more of a breakdown, and they would review it. The Lending Team then emailed back the following morning. I was happy to be offered a higher amount than I had received previously (although not the full amount applied for) all within 24 hrs of my first email. It seems you need to include all your financial information: i.e. savings when it comes to your banking information, include contributions to your home costs from other family members living with you, this can increase your affordability. The repayment terms for me, is that the monthly amount is being taken from my pay at source and paid back over 5 years, at a very reasonable rate of 7.9% which was very welcome. Highly recommend you use this provider, at all times I felt the process was very supportive, despite my fears of the offer being withdrawn because I "challenged" the decision.
