Awful customer service,payments not taken when made

Payments made from my bank are not immediately collected-sometimes taking 2 or 3 weeks meaning a payment that I believe i have made is instead collected at some random time in the future/doesnt even show on my bank as pending giving an inaccurate representation of how much money I have available. Customer service is pretty much non existent-tried the chat to go round in circles for over an hour being "transfered" to multiple different people "who can help" only to have to repeat myself/be asked the same questions despute being advised they would take a minute to read the chat. Then being advised payment can take up to 10 working days (but 20 days already being beyond this). Tried then calling only to be put on hold for the call to then randomly drop before speaking to someone (also for over an hour). Back on chat to raise it as a complaint, advised to end the call and a manager would call back straight away-no one called back(now over a month later), still same issue. Reviewed on: 9th June 2026

Avoid at all cost. Awful customer service! Removed my overdraft without notice or explanation (only after taking out a credit card with them-was not told it was one or the other as would have gone else where). Started recieving "managing debt" or "we're here to help" emails after using the credit card- despite never missing a payment with them or anyone else. excellent credit rating (that Santander has now severely impacted)and the "debt" being the use of their new interest free credit card). Raised this as a complaint 2 months ago was advised a manager would call me back, but still no response. Went into branch to raise it again and additional issues-they are now slowing down or witholding payments to other companies(payments that previously always cleared instantly are now taking over a week and not even showing as pending, direct debits are now leaving my account late despite having more than enough funds), this time was not given a chance to speak, was then handed a print out of a letter i should have received 2 months ago stating the complaint had been discussed/we couldnt come to an agreement(never happened). Tried to raise that as an issue in itself along with the rude member of staff I have just spoken to-was again refused the ability to speak to a manager and instead referred to the fraud department despite it having nothing to do with fraud other than on the part of Santander who are fraudulently with holding my money from any company I try to make a payment to. Long term customer but sadly the customer service is still getting progressively worse rather than better.
