Since I can remember I wouldn’t think twice about getting a credit card or opening a store card. I would buy things on a buy now pay later agreement thinking everything would be alright. I’ll pay for it ‘another time’. I honestly didn’t appreciate money & would take it for granted. I slowly got myself into a complete financial mess that I couldn’t get myself out of. My house phone would constantly ring, my mobile phone would ring at all hours & I was receiving letters from the people I owed money to on a daily basis. This was seriously affecting my mental health, to the point I thought about ‘other ways out’. Three years ago I decided to face the matter head on; instead of turning my back & hoping it would all disappear. I googled ‘help with debt UK’ - this is the moment I got in contact with StepChange and that weight I felt on my shoulders for years on end has been lifted ever since. Fast forward three years & I now have one payment left of my debt management plan with StepChange, meaning I will be debt free for the first time since high school. I rarely leave reviews for a company or anything really but I wanted to share my experience on here because is truly has been life changing. Thank you to the staff at StepChange for being there for me when I really needed you, your customer service was invaluable & I appreciate everything you’ve done for me over the past three years. I’ve never been one to save, in fact I’ve never had more than £1000 to my name, that was until I joined Moneybox. It’s given me so much confidence knowing I get daily interest (paid monthly), and the rate is absolutely fantastic. I thought I’d try withdrawing, in case one day I needed to rely on my Cash ISA for an emergency payment - and my money was with me within 24 hours! Superb. I now have so much confidence going forward & I’ve learnt so much about saving, whether it’s to do with my Cash ISA or later on when I switch it to a Stocks & Shares ISA.
