Housing Inclusion Officer's opinion

As a Housing Inclusion Officer who's bulk of cases involve residents in financial hardship including assessing for Discretionary Housing Payments, I heavily rely on Better Off Calculator to show residents what they should be getting in eligible benefits. I especially love the Budgeting tool, where we can compare what they are spending to the National Averages though at time I do find these averages to be quite low considering inflation. It may be a good idea to relook at these amounts more regularly to reflect the countries current financial climate. Reviewed on: 14th April 2026
