Don't give them your biometric data, breach of trust.

The online application process has software problems, which in my case somehow resulted in a ridiculous security requirement of asking for my biometric data, totally unacceptable to require my ID complete with my photograph, total overreach. Reviewed on: 28th April 2026

Reply from Hanley Economic Building Society Thank you for your feedback and we’re sorry for the frustration caused. We do not collect or store biometric data. As part of our security checks, some customers may be asked to provide a photograph holding their ID to help verify identity and reduce the need for original documents. This is optional, and alternative methods are available for anyone who prefers not to use this approach. We continue to review our systems to ensure they remain secure and customer focused.
