We contacted StepChange with considerable debt that...

We contacted StepChange with considerable debt that was no longer manageable. Although we had not yet defaulted on any payments we knew the writing was on the wall if we e did nothing. We honestly thought we were going to lose everything. We dreaded the perceived shame and guilt. We contacted StrpChange although there were others that could have helped too. The important thing was making first contact. They took the time empathetically to listen where we were with things and offered what options were available to us. They explained them all thoroughly and with their help have given us the ability to live again within our means. 2.5 years later we now budget for all of our monthly outgoings and those that only happen annually. So instead of waiting to try to find the money the money is there to pay the bills. There budgeting advise even allows for saving a little and providing you are sensible in expectation they even allow for having a life with some enjoyment. The most important thing you can do is contact them as early as possible and not leave it too late. No matter what your position they can help you out and are with you throughout this journey.
