When my finances became overwhelming, I contacted StepChange and they really helped me. They contacted all my creditors with proposed repayments to each after my monthly budget was assessed and those payments were accepted by all. StepChange does not charge for this service as they are a charity. They are highly respected by all banks and other lenders in the financial sector who are happy to engage with them. I would highly recommend StepChange and I am very grateful to all the people within this charity who helped me when I was in a financial dark pit. Reviewed on: 7th May 2026
