Get the help - it's life changing

I was in over my head with debt before I spoke with StepChange. My circumstances had changed and I found myself a single parent. I believed I needed to pay off the money I had spent (I didn't want to be "bailed out") but I had got myself in such a bad position that I was only paying interest, couldn't afford to live, and couldn't see myself getting through it. I only wish I'd asked for help sooner so the interest hadn't piled up so high. I'm paying into a DMP and it's satisfying to know I eventually will have paid off every penny I owe. With their help, I've become so much better with money and have learnt to budget. They're amazing and I recommend them to everyone Reviewed on: 8th May 2026
