Stepchange saved my life

Stepchange helped us turn things around after a period of unemployment and bad spending habits plunged us into almost £50k of debt in loans and credit cards. Their reassuring, sensible advice gave us a plan to work towards being debt free without having to live on the breadline. We still have about 3 years before we are debt free but every time we have a bit of spare money we pay towards our debts, reducing our balance slowly but surely. When i first spoke to Stepchange I was contemplating doing something very bad to myself. Now, I see a future and have a whole new attitude to money. Reviewed on: 8th May 2026
