I found myself in a terrible financial situation after being scammed out of over £100,000 which I had taken as equity release. I could not fulfil all my financial commitments and was in despair. I was recommended to contact StepChange by Citizens Advice. They did not judge me and helped me to collate my debts and presented my situation to all my debtors. By doing so a plan was put in place after my living expenses were deducted. This enabled me to start paying off my debts with a plan in place and moreover they were instrumental in dealing directly with all my debtors. They are also a charity so do not charge fees.
