My life is back!

5
I’m already up to my eyeballs in debt. I took the initiative and sought financial help earlier on last year. Something I was really proud & relived about myself doing because I was putting it off for years. I really wish I did it much, much sooner when I lost my job even though I was in debt by then anyway, albeit no where near I am now. I cut up all my credit cards and threw them away and unlinked everything off my accounts online. I work with StepChange who pay all my credit bills. £150 is paid to them monthly that is then split in varying amounts to each of my creditors. It doesn’t stop those accounts from being defaulted, but it makes sure everyone is paid monthly on time and all creditors can see that I’m working with a debt relief charity to put my finances right. It took a huge amount of mental strength to set this up and speaking to them & each of my creditors for months to organise these new smaller manageable payments. Countless lengthy phone calls and emails back and forth for 4-5 months. It was a nightmare. It’s reviewed annually, but nothing will really change because my debt is so much. My life is now back on track. Reviewed on: 27th May 2026
