I was in full time employment of 35 years plus, Covid happened and affected my health to a point of having to retire due to ill health! This suddenness put me in financial difficulties which was stressful and worrying! A colleague told me about STEPCHANGE and I was actually embarrassed to ask for help BUT I put that to one side as I had to think more positively as I needed financial support! STEPCHANGE has made a massive impact on giving creditors my information of financial difficulties of what I could afford or not afford, they directed myself of what to do and what not to do! Creditors stayed at bay as they were aware of my situation! I paid my mortgage and utilities, anything after that was assessed as to if I had the means to pay a small amount or not! It was keeping a roof over my head and it was a great weight lifted knowing that I was supported by STEPCHANGE financial advisors….who took on board your initial information, offered support areas and showed empathy! STEPCHANGE monitor and review yearly if not before with any changes, with how much you can afford to pay back creditors monthly! A great thanks to them as a team, totally de-stressed a situation where I would not have known how to get help! Professional & Approachable in giving assistance & advice! 100% would direct family/friends /colleagues who needed help and in financial difficulties to STEPCHANGE! Reviewed on: 27th May 2026
